Everyone is a Salesperson!
Yesterday, my grandson went for his Montessori admission interview. At less than three years old, he was already selling himself. Another grandson, just six months old, cries loudly to get his mother’s attention and his feeds on time – that’s his way of selling himself too.
Think about when a boy visits his future in-laws for a marriage proposal – He’s selling himself. The girl, bringing in the tray and trying to make a great impression, is selling herself too.
In the workplace, an employee wanting a promotion or raise sells their performance to their boss. Politicians, like Imran Khan or Nawaz Sharif, continuously sell their qualities to win votes and secure positions. Even Modi stayed in power because he out-sold his competitors.
The highest form of salesmanship? The prophets. They sold beliefs in one God, prayer, fasting, charity, pilgrimage, and service to humanity.
Everyone is a salesperson, whether they know it or not. Success often depends on how well you sell yourself and your ideas. But is salesmanship a talent you’re born with, or can it be learned? Do you need to go to business school for it, like becoming a doctor or engineer?
This series of short sessions will explore these questions and more, especially in the field of power generation, where our team excels.
