Bangladesh and Pakistan: Brothers Forever!
Imagine having a twin brother who is just twenty minutes older than you! That was me, fifty years ago. My brother and I fought about everything. From our clothes and food to our books and toys, we fought continuously. We even fought over who would get the bigger piece of mutton from our common plate. Sometimes, we wouldn’t talk for days, acting like we were the worst enemies. I often wondered why we were born together!
Around that same time, Bangladesh was also being born.
Fast forward fifty years, and my twin brother is now my greatest asset. He is my best friend, and without him, I feel incomplete! It’s not just because he is a top oncologist; it’s because we share a bond that is stronger than anything else. Our connection is like the two halves of a book that fit perfectly together.
Today, Pakistan and Bangladesh enjoy a similar relationship; just like my brother and me.
Recently, leaders from both countries met and shared a statement that showed their commitment to each other. They talked about the importance of strengthening their relationship and looking out for each other’s interests. They even agreed that if anyone attacked Dhaka, it would be seen as an attack on Islamabad, and vice versa.
This shows that blood is thicker than water. Brothers will always be brothers, no matter how much disagreement there may be. The idea of two nation theory is still alive, even after claims that it has been drowned forever in the Bay of Bengal.
Long live Pakistan; long live Bangladesh!
